The future of connected devices
Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) is an innovative mobile radio technology that has been specially developed for Internet of Things applications. It enables billions of devices to communicate with minimal energy consumption and long range – perfect for applications where reliability and efficiency are crucial. From smart cities to industrial applications and agricultural solutions, NB-IoT is revolutionising the way devices are connected.
Advantages of NB-IoT technology
NB-IoT offers numerous advantages that make it the preferred technology for many IoT applications:
- Excellent network coverage: even in remote or hard-to-reach areas.
- Low energy consumption: Devices can run for years on a single battery charge
- Cost efficiency: Optimised for small data volumes and low operating costs
- High scalability: Connects millions of devices in a single network.
The technology is used in numerous industries:
- Smart cities: street lighting, car park management, waste disposal.
- Industry: condition monitoring of machines, asset tracking.
- Agriculture: soil moisture measurement, monitoring of livestock.
- Healthcare: Wearables and remote monitoring of patients.

Wireless M-Bus Gateway (Solar)
The Lobaro Solar Gateway for Smart Metering enables regular wireless remote reading of consumption meters such as water meters and heat cost allocators using wireless M-Bus (868 MHz, C1/T1, S1 modes) and Sensus RF as well as downstream transmission via NB-IoT, LTE-M mobile radio or LoRaWAN to the Internet. Power is supplied exclusively from the internal solar cell.
Wireless M-Bus Gateway (Ext. Power, top-hat rail)
Remote reading of wireless M-Bus (868 MHz) and Sensus RF consumption meters (e.g. water meters, heat cost allocators) via NB-IoT mobile radio or LoRaWAN. Particularly suitable for frequent meter reading and space-saving installation on a top-hat rail (Din-Rail).
